NRA is abusing monopoly with tolling proposals

Plans for new electronic tolls on the M50 are just another rip-off designed to fleece motorists who have to use the motorway because there is no alternative, Fine Gael Front Bench TD Leo Varadkar said today (Wednesday).

 

Deputy Varadkar is addressing the National Road Authority’s (NRA) oral hearing on the Draft M50 Tolling Scheme in Croke Park this morning.

 

“The NRA’s barrier-free tolling scheme is the latest example of rip-off by a Government agency. Once again, the Fianna Fáil Government is reaching into the pockets of consumers and business through the introduction of stealth taxes and charges.
